Sherry Xinyue Wang was born on December 25, 2001 in Austin, TX to Xiaolan Qiu and Wei Wang. She has an older sister, Cindy and a dog. Currently, Sherry is an honor student at Vandegrift High School and she will graduate from high school in 2020. She has a a 4.0 unweighted GPA. During Sherry's spare time, she enjoys reading and playing clarinet.

Sherry had a lot of energy, so her parents put her into recreational classes for fun when she was three years old. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Capital Gymnastics in Cedar Park, TX and has been there ever since. As a level 5 gymnast in 2010, Sherry finished sixth in the all-around with a 38.075 and second on vault at the State Championships. At the 2011 Level 6 State Meet, she placed third in the all-around with a 38.050 and second on vault. Sherry moved up to level 7 for the 2012 season where she finished first on vault and floor exercise at the State Meet.

In 2013, Sherry competed as a level 8 gymnast where she placed fourth on vault and fifth on floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished fourth in the all-around with a 38.375, fifth on vault and sixth on balance beam. Sherry moved up to level 9 for the 2014 season. She placed in the top ten in the all-around at the State Championships. She had a great meet at the Region 3 Championships where she placed 11th in the all-around with a 37.100 and eighth on vault. this qualified Sherry to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Boise, ID.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2015, Sherry placed tenth in the all-around and sixth on balance beam with a 9.450 at the State Championships and qualified to the Region 3 Championships. In 2016, Sherry finished fifth in the all-around and sixth on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she placed seventh in the all-around with a 37.175 and sixth on vault. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX.

In 2017, Sherry placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.525 and second on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished sixth in the all-around and third on uneven bars. Sherry qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis, IN where she placed 22nd in the all-around with a 37.275 and 11th on floor exercise out of 58 gymnasts. In 2018, Sherry had a great start where she placed in the top three in every meet she competed in. She was unable to compete at the State Championships and Region 3 Championships due to an injury. In June 2018, Sherry moved to Austin Elite Gymnastics Training Center in Lakeway, TX.

Sherry trains 21 hours per week at Austin Elite Gymnastics Training Center in Lakeway, TX under coach Mike Hillin. Sherry would like to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals and Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup. Her long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
