Savannah Dunbar was born on May 21, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM to David and Frances Dunbar. She has a younger sister who is also involved in gymnastics. During Savannah's spare time, she enjoys fishing and crafting.

Currently, Savannah is a homeschooled 12th grader and she will graduate from high school in 2017. Her cumulative GPA is a 3.8.

Savannah's mom decided to enroll her into gymnastics to socialize with others when she was three years old in 2002. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Gold Cup Gymnastics in Albuquerque, NM and she has been there ever since.

As a level 6 gymnast in the fall of 2007, Savannah placed second in the all-around and first on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. She moved up to level 7 for the 2009 season where she placed second in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. In 2010, she placed second in the all-around and first on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. This qualified Savannah to the Region 3 Championships where she placed in the top ten.

Savannah moved up to level 9 for the 2011 season. She won the all-around title at the National Judges Cup, Gold Cup Classic and Winter Fiesta Invitational. At the State Championships, she finished first on uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around with a 37.475. She concluded her season at the Region 3 Championships. She continued competing level 9 in 2012. She placed third in the all-around at the National Judges Cup and first in the all-around at the Crystal Cup. At the Kurt Thomas Invitational, she earned a silver medal on balance beam. She grabbed gold medals on uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, Savannah finished ninth in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals where she placed third on balance beam.

In 2013, Savannah started her level 10 season at the Gold Cup Classic, finishing first on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around. She won the uneven bars title at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Spirit of the Flame Challenge, Savannah placed third on balance beam and in the all-around. She finished fourth in the all-around, second on vault and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. She concluded her 2013 season at the Region 3 Championships. In 2014, Savannah was limited to two events due to an injury.

Savannah started her 2015 season at the Candy Cane Classic, finishing first on uneven bars and floor exercise and third on balance beam. She placed first on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise at the Winter Fiesta Meet. At the State Championships, Savannah finished first on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around and qualified to the Region 3 Championships. In the summer of 2015, Savannah moved to Desert Lights Gymnastics in Chandler, AZ.

In 2016, Savannah finished in the top ten in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 1 Championships, she placed in the top 15 in the all-around and fourth on floor exercise.

Currently, Savannah is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 24 hours per week at Desert Lights Gymnastics is Chandler, AZ under coaches Lisa and John Spini, Bob Peterson, Bruce McGehee, Kari Ward and Neela Nelson. She verbally committed to Sacramento State University for the 2017-2018 school year.
