Alexandra "Alex" Gillette was born on April 25, 2004 in Houston, TX to Craig and Stephanie Gillette. She has a Labradoodle named Nola and a Brittany Spaniel named Stella. Currently, Alex is a student St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School in Austin, TX and she will graduate from high school in 2022. When Alex has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys hiking and photography. She is a student ambassador, a member of National Charity League and is involved in Youth Ministry at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Alex started taking gymnastics at the age of three at Little Gym classes and loved the gymnastics more than the games and songs. She started her competitive gymnastics career in Shreveport, LA. In 2012, Alex and her family relocated to Austin, TX where Alex started training at Capital Gymnastics in Austin, TX. Alex qualified to the Level 4 South Texas State Championships in 2012 and 2013. As a level 5 gymnast in 2014, Alex placed sixth in the all-around and fourth on vault at the State Championships.

In 2015, Alex skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7. At the State Championships, she placed in the top ten on vault with a 9.575. In 2016 as a level 8 gymnast, Alex finished in the top ten in the all-around with a 37.325 and sixth on balance beam scoring a 9.500 at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships where she placed sixth in the all-around with a 37.275 and fifth on balance beam.

As a level 9 gymnast in 2017, Alex finished fourth on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing seventh on vault with a 9.475. In 2018, Alex finished fifth in the all-around and third on balance beam with a 9.500 at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished in the top 15 in the all-around and was named alternate for the Level 9 Western Nationals. In May of 2018, Alex moved to Austin Elite Gymnastics Training Center in Lakeway, TX. In 2019, Alex placed first on balance beam, third on floor exercise and fifth in the all-around at the State Championships. She was the 2019 Regional Balance Beam Champion.

In 2020, Alex qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2020, she moved to AcroTex Gymnastics in Round Rock, TX. In 2021, Alex placed seventh in the all-around and fifth on balance beam at the Level 10 State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships.

Alex trains 20 hours per week at AcroTex Gymnastics in Round Rock, TX under coach Daire O’Ceallag.
